The Hickory Nut Gorge provides a unique geography which consists of five communities, Lake Lure, Bill’s Creek, Chimney Rock, Gerton, and Bat Cave which in turn reside in three different counties, Buncombe, Rutherford, and Henderson. It is the home to the newly created Chimney Rock State Park. Until recently, the Gorge has been a remote area located in some of the most beautiful land in the world. Known to few and loved dearly by those who know it.
