The Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation is in its formative years. As the Hickory Nut Gorge took 300 million years to become the place where we live and love, it will take time for the Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation to evolve and become the strong positive force that it will eventually become. As we gather donations from the businesses and individuals from the community, we will provide grants from those gifts. We will build our reputation and trust in the community by the grants we make, the way we govern ourselves, and the good works that we do. The Hickory Nut Gorge Foundation currently has two projects underway: One is to raise $1,000,000 in unrestricted funds as a permanent endowment to support the Hickory Nut Gorge in the towns of Gerton, Bat Cave, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and Bill’s Creek.
Another is to build our reputation in these early years by thoughtfully and carefully applying the funds that we have available in the best way to make the Hickory Nut Gorge a better place to live. |
